Latham & Watkins partner Elizabeth L. Deeley, vice-chair of the firm's commercial litigation practice, has stepped in to defend Meta Platforms in a pending privacy class action. The complaint, filed Sept. 9 in California Northern District Court by Girard Sharp, is part of a wave of cases that accuse Meta of circumventing user privacy settings by redirecting users to an in-app browser whenever the user clicks a web link in its Facebook, Instagram or Messenger apps. The case, assigned to U.S. District Judge Jon S. Tigar, is 4:22-cv-05376, Willis et al v. Meta Platforms, Inc.
