With Data Breach Lawsuits Mounting, 23andMe Moves for Califo...

Faced with mounting lawsuits over its data breach, 23andMe moved on Dec. 21 to transfer all the cases to the Northern District of California, near its South San Francisco headquarters. In a motion before the U.S. Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation, 23andMe attorney Ian Ballon said there were more than 30 lawsuits, and they're expected to grow. The move comes after 23andMe expanded the number of victims of the breach, announced on Oct. 6, from 14,000 to 6.9 million.
