Edgewell Personal Care and Energizer Holdings, the makers of Hawaiian Tropic and Banana Boat sunscreens, were slapped with a consumer class action Thursday in Florida Southern District Court. The lawsuit, filed by Aylstock, Witkin, Kreis & Overholtz, contends that the defendants failed to disclose that their sunscreens contain benzene, a known carcinogen. Counsel have not yet appeared for the defendants. The case is 1:21-cv-22232, Zapatero v. Energizer Holdings, Inc et al.
