Hammonds and Squire, Sanders & Dempsey are set to start integrating their practices and partner pay after securing the vote of more than 95 percent of their combined partnerships to launch as Squire Sanders Hammonds in the new year. Squire Sanders & Dempsey Chairman Jim Maiwurm is set to become global chairman following the proposed merger with Hammonds, as details of the new firm's framework begin to emerge. The proposed tie-up, announced last week, would see Maiwurm head the trans-Atlantic firm, with a European chair position also being discussed, likely to be filled by Hammonds managing partner Peter Crossley. After more than two months of official talks, British firm Hammonds and Squire, Sanders & Dempsey have agreed to merge in the latest trans-Atlantic law firm combination.
