McDermott Entering Into Alliance With Chinese Law Firm

As of Feb. 1, McDermott Will & Emery will operate under an exclusive "strategic alliance" with a new Chinese firm called MWE China Law Office, formed by two prominent Chinese lawyers who recently left Shanghai's Allbright Law Group. John Huang and Kevin Qian will be followed by about 25 more Allbright lawyers. The alliance, which Huang and McDermott Chairman Harvey Freishtat call the first of its kind, is meant to overcome hurdles that have limited the services global law firms can offer clients in China.
