Settlement and Compromise columnist Thomas E.L. Dewey writes that a recent holding in the 'Patton Boggs v. Chevron' case demonstrates that "retention of jurisdiction" provisions in stipulations of dismissal can lead to litigation with non-parties over underlying settlement agreements.
