Steven Seagal Sues Loeb & Loeb for Fees
Actor Steven Seagal is suing his former law firm Loeb & Loeb for charging excessive fees, according to paperwork filed in Los Angeles Superior Court. Seagal hired Loeb & Loeb in April 2002 to represent him when he appeared as a witness before a federal grand jury and in the subsequent criminal trial of his former business associate, Julius Nasso. Loeb & Loeb has added three more lawyers in California, the latest in a spree of hires for the L.A.-based firm. The firm, which had 195 lawyers in 2005, had 227 at the end of August and has about 260 today. Last year, Loeb reported a 23 percent bump in revenue and a 27 percent boost in profits per partner. The firm's strategy -- remain midsize and focused -- isn't novel, but the methods may be.
