Loeb & Loeb has added three more lawyers in California, the latest in a spree of hires for the L.A.-based firm. The firm, which had 195 lawyers in 2005, had 227 at the end of August and has about 260 today. Last year, Loeb reported a 23 percent bump in revenue and a 27 percent boost in profits per partner. The firm's strategy -- remain midsize and focused -- isn't novel, but the methods may be. A California appeals court has snatched away $5 million in fees from attorneys at Loeb & Loeb, Jones Day and Greenberg Traurig in a dispute over the riches of a deceased shopping mall magnate.
