Shook Hardy gets the call for pharma fights

The makers for Ambien didn't go to outside counsel in New York when 500 plaintiffs signed onto a class action against them for allegedly failing to warn people about the sleep aid's bizarre potential side effects. They went to Kansas City's Shook, Hardy & Bacon. And with good reason. The plaintiffs voluntarily withdrew before a motion for class certification was filed. Shook, a longtime defender of big tobacco, is now a go-to firm for big pharmaceutical and medical device litigation.
