A Dallas state court jury awarded the department store $246 million against JDA Software. According to JDA, that includes $238 million in punitive and special damages. That's about a 1-to-30 ratio, not exactly what the U.S. Supreme Court has recommended for punitives. But counsel for Dillard's says the ratio is much less when you factor in $76 million awarded for loss profits.
