Correction

Due to a reporting error, a story about Channing Johnson's move from Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld to Loeb & Loeb incorrectly stated that Johnson said Akin Gump had no attorneys experienced in drafting license agreements with studios. Actually, Johnson said Akin has no one with expertise with respect to affiliation and carriage agreements in the television area. The firm has numerous attorneys handling film licensing agreements. We regret the error.

Behind Loeb & Loeb's Growth Spurt

Loeb & Loeb has added three more lawyers in California, the latest in a spree of hires for the L.A.-based firm. The firm, which had 195 lawyers in 2005, had 227 at the end of August and has about 260 today. Last year, Loeb reported a 23 percent bump in revenue and a 27 percent boost in profits per partner. The firm's strategy -- remain midsize and focused -- isn't novel, but the methods may be. "We're building on everything we've done over the past eight or nine years," says Co-Chairman John Frankenheimer.
