New York Attorney General Andrew M. Cuomo and billionaire real estate investor Mortimer Zuckerman, who owns the New York Daily News, have filed separate lawsuits over lost investments in funds managed by J. Ezra Merkin that were tied to Bernard Madoff. The suit alleges Merkin steered investments to Madoff, without client permission, in exchange for $470 million in fees, which he comingled into a personal management firm through which he purchased more than $91 million in artwork for his apartment.
