The state appellate court's rejection of Perelman's new trial motion affirms the trial court's decision. A long battle to defend a $20 million medical malpractice verdict ended this week when the U.S. Supreme Court refused to review a series of decisions by Pennsylvania courts in a case against Temple University Hospital. In 2003, a Philadelphia jury found that a Temple student suffered brain damage because of a slow response by hospital staffers. Fried Frank Set to Open Office in Hong Kong
In an unusually large Asian office launch, Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson is set to announce today the opening of a Hong Kong office, to be started by six partners recruited from British firm Simmons & Simmons, led by China region managing partner Huen Wong. Another three from Simmons & Simmons, including China corporate head Stephen Mok, will come aboard early next year.
