Google Inc. has acquired video-sharing Web site YouTube.com Inc. for $1.65 billion. The stock-for-stock transaction was Google's 28th acquisition since 2001, including Blogger, Applied Semantics and the job-search site Monster.com. Also, Houston-based Dynegy Inc., an electricity provider, has combined with East Brunswick, N.J.'s LS Power Group, a power plant developer, in a $2.3 billion transaction.

In a major victory for business groups, the U.S. Supreme Court held Tuesday that the validity of a contract that includes an arbitration provision must be decided by an arbitrator, not a state judge -- unless what's challenged is the arbitration provision itself. The decision overturned a ruling by the Florida Supreme Court that a state court first must establish whether the underlying contract at issue violated state or federal law before its arbitration provision could be enforced.
