In fact, more than two-thirds of the top 200 firms have a designated in-house GC, says one survey. And that number is apt to go higher. Those in the know say the trend reflects an awareness of the need for risk management in the post-Enron, SOX environment. Adds Howrey general counsel Roger Klein, "It's a recognition that as firms get larger ... the ad hoc approach is not the most efficient."
