PricewaterhouseCoopers has paid $87.5 million to settle a negligent misrepresentation claim involving more than $1 billion in loan losses. The settlement with an international syndicate of 90 lenders was confidential, but details were revealed in a recent Georgia court filing. Attorneys for PricewaterhouseCoopers and the banks used a rare proceeding, a non-binding summary jury trial, to guide their mediation efforts. The case settled on the eve of trial last October.
