San Francisco Superior Court Changes Procedure for Case Numbers
San Francisco Superior Court Judge Ronald Quidachay announced a more secure way to process new complaints -- making it "impossible for anyone to anticipate the number that will be assigned to a newly filed complaint." The changes come a week after it was reported that almost all asbestos litigation filed by San Francisco's Wartnick, Chaber, Harowitz & Tigerman during a two-year period was directed to Quidachay.It's a testament to both the importance and the uncertainties of Alien Tort Statute litigation that ATS cases keep igniting crucial divisions not only between the federal appellate courts, but within them as well.
