A wrongful death case against a Georgia bar for serving alcohol to a customer who was in a fatal car crash on the way home has been settled for $1 million, after the judge granted the plaintiff's motion for spoliation sanctions and struck much of the defendant's evidence. According to the order, the bar had recorded over most of four hours of videotape recorded inside the bar, and destroyed the tabs for the driver's two drinking companions and that night's "spill sheets" showing free drinks given out by bartenders.
