A day after finding Wal-Mart liable for failing to pay Pennsylvania workers for missed rest breaks and off-the-clock work, a Philadelphia jury on Friday awarded nearly $78.5 million to a class of some 186,000 current and ex-employees. The award roughly reflects the amount requested by lead class counsel; Wal-Mart's lead attorney had argued for around $7 million. The full damages amount is likely to rise, as the presiding judge may award liquidated damages under state law. Reportedly, Wal-Mart will appeal.Vinson & Elkins and Enron Unplugged
