Allen & Overy Takes Lead Role for Vietnam Government on $1 Billion Bond Offering

Allen & Overy has advised the Vietnamese government on a $1 billion sovereign bond offering, with Davis Polk & Wardwell working as lead international adviser to the underwriting banks. The A&O team was led by U.S.-qualified corporate and finance partner David Johnson, who is based in the Magic Circle firm's Hong Kong office. Davis Polk fielded a team led by Tokyo-based corporate partner Eugene Gregor on the deal, which closed at the end of January.

Norton Rose Becomes Latest U.K. Firm to Confirm Casablanca Launch Plans

Norton Rose is set to open an office in Casablanca, making it the third top 10 U.K. firm to announce a Moroccan launch in the last two weeks. The firm's Africa group head, Alain Malek, will head up the office, which will focus on financial institutions, energy and infrastructure, as well as allow the firm to further develop its 10-year-old Francophone African practice.
