First Union Merger Won't Disrupt Pennsylvania Firms' Work

Don't expect wholesale changes for Philadelphia-area law firms representing First Union in light of its proposed merger with fellow North Carolina bank, Wachovia Corp., say outside and in-house counsel. Unlike First Union's past acquirees, CoreStates and First Fidelity banks, Wachovia does not have a Philadelphia area presence, and there should not be any overlap in their local legal representation.
