Class action litigation is beginning to take shape over allegations that major banks manipulated Libor, the benchmark rate used to calculate interest on trillions of dollars in securities globally. On Monday the federal district court judge hearing the litigation consolidated 20 class complaints, and appointed interim class counsel.

As a Delaware judge weighs whether to confirm WMI's proposed plan of reorganization, the key question is whether additional litigation against JPMorgan and the FDIC would produce a better outcome. Opponents of confirmation say trial testimony shows Quinn and WMI didn't push hard enough on potential claims. Quinn says JPMorgan only agreed to settle because of the threat it posed.
