Plaintiffs Lawyer Reinstated After 16-Year Disbarment

Sixteen years after losing his license, New York plaintiffs lawyer Theodore H. Friedman has won his crusade to be reinstated, with the help of a federal judge who first complained about his conduct. Friedman lost his license over charges that included giving false testimony after a judge accused him of providing to a jury an exhibit that had not been submitted into evidence. That same judge, now on the 2nd Circuit, wrote a letter to a disciplinary committee calling Friedman's continued disbarment "unfair."

Aid From Manhattan On Way to Victims Of Hurricane Katrina

The pro bono affiliate of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York has established two hotlines for victims of Hurricane Katrina relocated to New York City. The hotlines may also be used by local attorneys to aid affected lawyers in Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama. So far, about 100 New York attorneys have registered as volunteers to help in matters such as insurance, immigration and government relief applications.
