Silicon Valley Law Group will have to settle for nearly $200,000 in fees -- not the almost $1.5 million it sought -- for litigation that turned on an alleged error by another firm. But SVLG won't stand liable for malpractice either. An appeals court concluded that a lower court judge committed no legal error by awarding the lesser fees, but also upheld the judge's conclusion that the firm's clients had failed to prove the firm was liable for malpractice for allegedly giving bad advice in another malpractice action.
