Spillane Shaeffer Aronoff Bandlow, a Los Angeles litigation shop, has announced plans to merge with Lathrop & Gage on Jan. 1, 2009. The merger gives Lathrop & Gage, a Kansas City, Mo.-based law firm, an office in California. The 300-lawyer Lathrop & Gage, the oldest law firm west of the Mississippi River, has agreed to merge with Denver firm Kamlet Reichert, according to a report in The Denver Post. According to a statement from Lathrop confirming the merger, the agreement will combine Lathrop's 16-lawyer Denver office -- led by litigation partner Philip Lorenzo -- with 21 lawyers from Kamlet Reichert.
