Yoga Twists Itself Into Copyright Case

Cobra, rabbit and half-tortoise are headed for trial. In a mixed ruling Friday, U.S. District Judge Phyllis Hamilton denied both plaintiff and defendant summary judgment in a dispute over whether a yoga entrepreneur can copyright a sequence of yoga poses. Open Source Yoga Unity had sued Bikram Choudhury after Choudhury sent cease-and-desist letters to yoga studios that he believes were ripping off his intellectual property.

Musician Fogerty Sues Attorney Over Settlement

Musician John Fogerty says negligence and a breach of fiduciary duty by his former attorney Kenneth Sidle cost him more than a million dollars when he settled a dispute over royalties with his Berkeley, Calif.-based record company, Fantasy Inc. Beyond recompense for what the musician says he lost in the settlement, the suit seeks $100,000 that Fogerty says he had to spend on new counsel to "salvage the wreckage." He also asks that Sidle's firm be ordered to disgorge $50,000 of what he paid the firm.
