Midsize Boston firm Goulston & Storrs laid off about 40 staffers on Dec. 1. Co-managing director Kitt Sawitsky said most were secretaries, but a few were paralegals and a few others were adminsistrative employees. No attorneys were laid off, and the firm had a meeting with associates to convey the message that the firm doesn't plan to cut lawyers, he said.
