Addressing an issue of first impression, an 11th Circuit panel has ruled that district court judges may not attempt to revive an otherwise untimely interlocutory appeal from a class certification ruling by renewing the denial order and thus resetting the filing deadline. The proposal would enable a firm to "screen" the incoming attorney from the rest of its attorneys and to continue representing its client without the consent of the incoming attorney's former client.
