DLA Piper Takes Four From Smith Gambrell

Smith, Gambrell & Russell partner Michael Rubinger has left the firm for DLA Piper Rudnick Gray Cary's new Atlanta office, joining as a partner in the corporate and securities group. Harris Getting Reinforcements for Gang Unit

A bad week for the U.S. attorney's office turned into a good one for San Francisco District Attorney Kamala Harris. Anthony Brass, who had left the DA's office in 2002 to work for U.S. Attorney Kevin Ryan, announced Friday he is stepping down as a federal prosecutor to go after gangs for Harris. Brass will join Harris' three-person gang unit, focusing on murders and shootings. He is the first of eight new hires Harris hopes to make in the next fiscal year.
