The 2009 Proxy Season and the Year of Investor Anger

After the pop of the telecom bubble at roughly the same time as Enron and other corporate scandals surfaced at the beginning of the decade, there was a surge in shareholder proposals related to corporate governance, from 88 in 2000 to 427 in 2003.
