Ballard Spahr Opens Third New Office in Two Months

Ballard Spahr Andrews & Ingersoll has continued its geographic expansion with a third office opening in less than two months. The firm's newest addition, in Bethesda, Md., follows the July 17 opening of a Las Vegas office and the Aug. 1 start for its Phoenix office. The firm's recent expansions are in "hot" legal markets, according to legal consultant Ward Bower. Ballard Spahr Chairman Arthur Makadon said the new office will focus on real estate to start, and look to expand into the high-tech business area.

National Firms Stake Claim in Phoenix's Robust Economy

It may be a dry heat in Phoenix, but it's also a hot legal market for national law firms moving into the desert city to take advantage of its flourishing economy. Law firms want a piece of the hospitality, real estate, construction, aerospace and electronics industries, but that means some firms with long-standing practices in Phoenix are feeling a pinch from the competition.
