Foley & Lardner Sued Over Missed Biotech Patent Filing
A fledgling biotech company is suing Foley & Lardner for allegedly missing the filing date on an international patent application. Vaxiion Therapeutics, which develops new ways to deliver vaccines using genetically engineered mini-cells, claims Foley attorneys missed the deadline by four days, allowing a competitor to cash in on the same intellectual property, according to a complaint filed in San Diego County Superior Court. A mistrial, due to a jury deadlock, has been declared in the federal trial over allegations that the Texas-based Holy Land Foundation charity funded terrorist organization Hamas. The HLF trial raised a number of difficult legal issues involving Middle Eastern politics, witnesses from other countries, American anti-terrorism laws and more than a decade worth of transcripts of conversations in multiple languages that the U.S. government had recorded.
