Law Firm Mergers Climb in Second Quarter of 2008

Law firm mergers climbed significantly in the second quarter of 2008 compared with the first quarter, according to new research from law firm consultancy Altman Weil. Altman tracked 26 law firm mergers and acquisitions in April, May and June, mostly involving small firms, compared with 18 during the first quarter of 2008. "Even in a deteriorating economy, law firms continue to pursue a growth strategy via merger and acquisition," said Altman principal Tom Clay.
