Kirkland & Ellis's M&A engine kept humming this week, as the firm advised longtime client Community Health Systems on its $3.9 billion cash-and-stock acquisition of rival for-profit hospital operator Health Management Associates, and grabbed its first-ever assignment for Hess Corp. on the $1.03 billion sale of the oil company's energy marketing business to a unit of British energy giant Centrica.
