Young lawyers often ask seasoned veterans why they went to law school. A common response from baby boomers is, "I wanted to improve the world." In that vein, King & Spalding senior partner Joseph R. Bankoff recalls Atlanta in the '60s, when lawyers from big-name firms were involved in "everything of importance" in the city. "Behind all the projects were lawyers," says Bankoff.
