3rd Circuit Upholds Bar to Litigation Over Litigation
An arbitrator cannot sue a lawyer for wrongful use of civil proceedings, the 3rd Circuit has ruled, even if the lawyer allegedly lodged false accusations in court papers to have the arbitrator disqualified, because lawyers enjoy an "absolute privilege" that immunizes them from liability over any communication made in the course of litigation. The annual conference of the National Association of Women Judges is in town with 300 attendees at the Four Seasons Hotel and programs at the National Constitution Center and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts.Fox Rothschild Raises Starting Salary to $125,000
Fox Rothschild has increased its starting salary by $15,000 to $125,000 for the incoming class of first-year associates. The $125,000 starting salary will be offered in all of the firm's offices except Atlantic City, N.J., and Pittsburgh, which will start at $115,000 and $110,000 respectively.
