3rd Circuit Upholds Lawyer's Conviction in Scheme to Launder Drug Money
New York solo Luis Flores claimed to be duped into believing that his client was a legitimate businessman and not the ringleader of a money-laundering scheme. But the 3rd Circuit didn't fall for it and upheld Flores' convictions of money laundering, conspiracy to launder money and conspiracy to structure transactions. Flores is currently serving a 32-month sentence and will probably lose his law license. His client was sentenced to 49 months, with credit for time served, and was released two weeks later.Stengart v. Loving Care Agency Inc.

Billionaire investor Ronald Perelman lost a multimillion-dollar lawsuit over how much money the estate of ex-wife Claudia Cohen should receive for her share in a family partnership. The judge found the buyout price, though "radically" below fair-market value, was not unconscionable, but remarked that "the disparity offends my inner scale."Lawyers Wrangle Over N.J. If judicial temperament is defined as a calm, contemplative disposition, don't look for it in Roberto Rivera-Soto. The most recent state Supreme Court nominee is anything but laid back. He is an adventurer - a free-spirited motorcycle enthusiast and licensed private pilot who's hopped around three states in his quarter century of practice; a forceful and voluble litigator who's been just as willing to take risks in his professional career as in his personal life.State Settles Class Action Charging Inferior Therapy for Sex Offenders
