Boutique to Cut Client Billing Rates in New Year

With clients facing hard times, Alexander Dubose Jones & Townsend is taking the unusual step of reducing billing rates in current hourly-fee cases by 10 percent, beginning on Jan. 1. Douglas Alexander, a partner with the Texas appellate boutique, says clients are tightening their belts so "we're willing to tighten our belts in terms of what we charge them." 2nd Court Chief Justice's Resignation Sets Up Odd Political Situation

Gov. Rick Perry named two new appellate court justices last week. Baron & Budd Seeks JNOV in $8.8 Million Case

Even before the Oct. 4 hearing started, the fight over Russell Budd and Baron & Budd's attempt to have an $8.8 million verdict against them dismissed promised to be just as contentious as the six-week trial that led to that stinging defeat. Friedman & Feiger partner Larry Friedman (pictured) and Kelly Hart & Hallman partner David Keltner have been named to the Baron & Budd defense team.
