Dilworth Paxson Loses Practice Group Leader

For the third time in the last year, Philadelphia-based Dilworth Paxson has lost a practice group leader and replaced the departing lawyer with a young partner from another firm. The latest to leave: Joel Friedman, head of white-collar litigation. Succeeding him is David Laigaie -- formerly a partner at Miller, Alfano & Raspanti -- who says that, aside from the larger platform, he was attracted by the firm's emphasis on hiring younger laterals with room to grow their practices.

In the short time -- a little over a year -- since New Jersey's federal district became the epicenter for multidistrict litigation over bone and tissue transplants from pilfered cadavers, the cases have grown from five to more than 500, with no end in sight. Cozen Rebounds in Summer Associate Rankings

Cozen O'Connor's summer associate program has gone from the doghouse to the penthouse. The firm finished No. 1 in the nation in L Magazine's summer associates survey, leading a strong showing by Philadelphia firms. Cozen finished 138 out of 142 firms in last year's survey but rebounded with great scores across the board.
