More than 100 lawyers packed a downtown San Diego federal courtroom on Thursday to hear arguments about which court is best prepared to hear the increasing number of lawsuits filed against Toyota Motor Sales USA Inc. over sudden unintended acceleration in millions of its vehicles.Five federal judges who hear jurisdictional issues for multidistrict litigation heard a range of suggestions for where these cases should be coordinated, including Louisiana, Kentucky, Ohio, Minnesota, and Florida.

Big names and big firms are clashing in Georgia over just which lawyers will get to share a fee pie potentially worth more than $20 million. At issue is how many lawyer-members of a class action qualify for refunds in the wake of the state Supreme Court declaring unconstitutional Atlanta's $400 per lawyer annual occupation tax.Seeking Attorney Fees in Trademark Litigation
Unlike the systems of many other countries, the "American" rule in litigation provides that each party is responsible for paying its own attorney fees, regardless of who prevails. Certain statutory exceptions permit the prevailing party to recover reasonable attorney fees incurred during the litigation from the losing party. One exception is set forth in �35 of the Lanham Act.
