After nearly a decade of litigation, medical supplier Covidien convinced a federal judge that Johnson & Johnson unit Ethicon Endo-Surgery Inc. infringed three patents related to ultrasonic surgical products.

This case was the last lingering piece of litigation against Frank Quattrone stemming from his days at Credit Suisse, where he led the firm's high-flying Silicon Valley office. After nearly a decade of being targeted by lawsuits from private plaintiffs and the government, Quattrone has emerged the victor.
