Plaintiffs winning mixed rulings in mortgage-backed securities litigation
As the financial reform bill heads to President Obama's desk this week, lawsuits are moving forward against the banks that underwrote mortgage-backed securities just before the economy's collapse. Washington's Cohen Milstein Sellers & Toll has been appointed as lead counsel or co-lead counsel in several cases filed on behalf of pension funds against banks. Settlement close in Native American farmers' suit
The Justice Department is nearing a comprehensive class settlement with a class of Native American farmers who filed a discrimination suit against the federal government in 1999. Lawyers for the plaintiffs and DOJ attorneys met for a status conference Wednesday in Washington federal district court. A lead plaintiffs' attorney, Joseph Sellers of Washington's Cohen Milstein Sellers Toll, said a settlement is close.Trending Stories
