Is Exxon Valdez Litigation Over? Company Says It Will Appeal Again

After years of bouncing around in appeals courts, the Exxon Valdez litigation may finally have reached the end of the line in the 9th Circuit. The $2.5 billion award is half the original jury award, but with interest accrued will total about $4.5 billion, of which the court ordered a little more than 22 percent to go to attorney fees, according to Harold Berger, co-chairman of the suit's discovery committee. But Berger said Exxon has said it would appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court.
