L.A. Firm Brings Johnnie Cochran Name to San Francisco

Partners at a top Southern California plaintiff shop have begun a novel business plan, opening Bay Area offices for a firm whose reputation is tied to one man. And they don't seem to mind that he's dead. Other than guaranteeing that Johnnie Cochran won't be heading your case, it's unclear who will be working directly with Bay Area clients: The new S.F. partners are in Santa Monica, and no lawyers are hired yet for the local offices. Said an expert on firm structure, "I've never heard of anything like this."
