Courts Cut Back

Federal court executives across the United States have begun a series of unprecedented, budget-induced layoffs as Congress looks for ways to offset national security expenses. As many as 1,000 court jobs are on the line nationwide, according to a spokesman for the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts. "We've never had to go this far before," Southern District of Florida Court of Clerk Clarence Maddox said of the cuts.
