Court-System Retirements Stream In
When Gov. James McGreevey signed legislation in May offering state workers early retirement to help plug the budget gap, officials estimated that about 2,500 employees would leave the payroll. The axe has clearly cut deeper than contemplated. As of last week, nearly 4,700 state employees had taken advantage of the lure, according to the Department of Personnel. More than 810 of them are from three agencies integral to the functioning of the court system.Trending Stories
