A unanimous ruling by the Georgia Supreme Court on Monday cleared the way for thousands of asbestos cases pending in Fulton County and Cobb County courts to go forward. A 2005 Georgia law that made it more difficult for asbestos and silica plaintiffs to succeed on their claims had called into question the viability of the cases. But the state high court struck down the retroactive application of one of the hurdles placed by the statute.
