Wilson Sonsini to Blame in Mercury Case?

Former Mercury general counsel Susan Skaer has taken a lot of the heat for the stock option backdating scandal at Mercury Interactive. But according to a complaint in a shareholder derivative action made public recently, Skaer's former employer -- Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati -- deserves some of the blame. The complaint -- filed by Lerach Coughlin Stoia Geller Rudman & Robbins -- suggests that Skaer began practicing backdating techniques while a senior associate at Wilson assigned to Mercury.
