Kansas backs bill restricting abortion coverage

(AP) - Kansas legislators approved a ban Friday on insurance companies offering abortion coverage as part of their general health plans except when a woman's life is at risk, capping a string of for abortion rights opponents in the four months since sympathetic Gov. Sam Brownback took office.SEC Chairwoman Mary Jo White chose Philip Falcone and his hedge fund, Harbinger Capital Partners, as the agency's first target in an effort to extract tougher settlements from defendants. Justice Kennedy: Yes to Judicial Pay Hikes, No to Cameras at High Court
In a rare appearance Wednesday before the Senate Judiciary Committee, Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy made a plea for increasing judicial salaries and against allowing cameras in the Court. Congress' failure to give federal judges meaningful raises is "threatening the excellence of the judiciary," Kennedy said.
