Morris Manning Partner Becomes Second Woman to Lead a Large Atlanta Firm

Morris Manning & Martin has announced that residential real estate partner Louise M. Wells will become the second managing partner in the firm's 34-year history. She'll take over in January and will maintain her practice. Wells has spent her entire career at Morris Manning, which she joined in 1978, becoming the firm's first female lawyer and later its first female partner. She is the second woman to lead a large Atlanta law firm; Diane L. Prucino became the co-managing partner of Kilpatrick Stockton in 2007.

Lack of Trial Objection Waives Chance to Appeal

The Pennsylvania Superior Court said a dental malpractice defendant waived her appellate challenge to an interrogatory by failing to object to language that asked jurors whether the plaintiff filed his claim "within two years of when he knew or should have known that he was harmed by the defendant's alleged negligence." The case made news in March when the state Supreme Court ruled that the discovery rule is not forestalled by a plaintiff's realization of injury within the statute of limitations period.
